About the Liturgical Arts Festival
Every two years, the Liturgical Arts Festival of Springfield hosts an interfaith celebration of the liturgical arts. What are “liturgical arts”? The word “liturgy” comes from the Greek litourgeia and means “the work of the people” - the entire faith community (not just the priest, imam, or rabbi) who come together to co-create services to worship and connect with the Divine. Liturgical arts are all the ways the people bring creativity and beauty to this work: music, dance, drama, poetry, visual art in every medium, and architecture. We explore expressions of the soul and the spirit by showcasing excellence in a journey across the arts and through many forms and traditions. The Festival draws on the richness of the past and the creativity of the present, inspired by the beautiful diversity of faith traditions within our own community.
Our programs are accessible to those of any faith or none.
